HISTORY:
Countryside Baptist Church began as a Home Bible Study in Gallia County on February 3, 2000 with an attendance of 19. The First Southern Baptist Church, Pomeroy assumed sponsorship on April 2, 2000. The first building was rented on Georges Creek Road. As the congregation grew, more space was needed and a church building was rented on Skidmore Road in Kerr. This allowed for Sunday School space with a nursery plus a sanctuary.
As the Chapel continued to grow, a need for larger facilities was seen. In early 2004, property located on Harrisburg Road in Gallia County was purchased for relocation. The mission constituted on May 25, 2008. Construction began at their new location. Help on the construction came from several sources. A mission team from Macon Baptist Association Georgia assisted in 2008. Scioto Valley Baptist Association Brotherhood Director, John Bail, helped in organizing several work groups for this project. Emmanuel Baptist Church, Jackson partnered with Countryside Baptist Church in helping to see this project completed. The first service was held in the new facilities in 2011. Dedication Service was held on March 17, 2012.
Countryside Baptist Church has ministered to Gallia County in many unique ways. Events such as: Back to School Back Packs and Supplies Give Away, Hay Rides, Movie Nights, Concerts, Puppets shows and Block Parties all have reached out into the communty.
